Industrial boilers demand ultra-soft water to prevent limescale buildup, which blocks heat transfer and risks catastrophic failure. Ion exchange rises to the challenge, using strong-acid sodium cation resins to swap calcium and magnesium ions with safe sodium. This produces water with less than 0.1 mg/L CaCO₃, ensuring optimal boiler efficiency and safety. The process includes pre-treatment to protect resins, followed by ion exchange in fixed-bed columns. Regular regeneration restores resin activity, maintaining consistent performance.
