BIS FMCS stands for Foreign Manufacturers Certification Scheme. It was introduced in the year 2000 to allow foreign manufacturers to get BIS certification without having a manufacturing unit in India.
Under this scheme, BIS grants a BIS FMCS Certificate to overseas manufacturers whose products comply with Indian Standards (IS). Once certified, the manufacturer is allowed to use the ISI Mark on their products before exporting them to India.
