Cover Star: Jude Bellingham

Fresh off leading England to Fut 25 Coins the Euro 2024 final, Jude Bellingham graces the cover of FC 25. “I played this game with my brother all the time growing up, and I’ve always dreamed of being featured on the cover,” says Bellingham, the Three Lions’ number 10.

Editions and Icons

In the standard edition, Bellingham is the sole cover star. However, the FC 25 Ultimate Edition features an impressive roster of Icons: David Beckham, Zinedine Zidane, Gigi Buffon, and Aitana Bonmati. Additionally, the Ultimate Edition includes 17 authentic trophies from major football leagues and tournaments, such as the Champions League, Premier League, and FA Cup. While these trophies don’t impact gameplay, they certainly contribute to one of the most visually striking covers in the history of FIFA and FC series.

New Mode: Rush

FC 25 sees the departure of the Volta mode, replaced by the new Rush mode. In Rush, games are five-on-five, played on a scaled-down version of a real pitch with full-sized goals, corners, and throw-ins. New features in Rush include blue cards, which send players to the sin bin, and a race to win the ball at kick-off. Rush mode is integrated across all gameplay modes, offering rewards like extra packs in Ultimate Team and enhancements for youth players in Career Mode.

Ultimate Team Enhancements

Rush mode plays a significant role in Ultimate Team, where you can showcase your favorite cards by teaming up with friends in a new lobby system. You can join matches with up to three friends, earning XP, packs, and other rewards for victories. Ultimate Team also sees increased customization options for Evolutions cards, and duplicates can now be stored in a new SBC (Squad Building Challenge) folder, making it easier to manage and use them in challenges.

Gameplay and Tactics

FC 25 introduces refined animations and visual improvements, including more responsive ball control and increased pass error on awkward angles. The major gameplay update comes with the new FC IQ feature, which transforms how formations and player roles influence tactics. Presets define your initial formation, while player roles—such as Half-winger for CMs or Attacking Wingback for LBs—add fluidity and diversity to your team’s movement and decision-making. EA Vancouver boasts that there are up to 400 million possible team combinations, promising a dynamic meta for months to come.

New Skill Moves

The skill moves list in FC 25 expands with five new tricks, including the show-stopping Heel Nutmeg. This move involves backheeling the ball through a defender’s legs and spinning around to accelerate away. The new skill moves are:

Career Mode Revamp

EA aims to rejuvenate Career Mode with a significant overhaul. The addition of women’s teams from five different leagues and the Champions League allows for seamless management transitions between men’s and women’s squads. New features include Live Start Points, which let you start from the current season’s point in the real football world, and an offline-only Simulation option that introduces real-life weather and wind effects. This revamp aims to capture the essence of the beloved Master League from Pro Evolution Soccer, potentially marking a major step forward for Career Mode.
