According to CBC the CBC, several inside EA documents were leaked to the media by an "gaming insider" who claims documents prove that EA attempts to influence players to spend more for the game. The document of 54 pages is from the sports division of EA located within Burnaby, British Colombia, Canada. The document is an expo filled with bullet points and slides.

Based on the information presented, EA claims that the FIFA Ultimate Team mode is the "cornerstone" of  EA FC 26. and the company is doing all it can to lure players who are playing in other modes to FUT, in which they'll be encouraged to buy loot boxes. Since the beginning of time, many various studies have been made public that have shown a connection between loot boxes and problematic gambling. Thus, by bringing more people into the option, EA probably hopes to increase the number of people who spend regularly on loot boxes while in The FUT game mode.

Reaction to the documents shouldn't be too surprising; FIFA 's Ultimate Team mode has already experienced plenty of controversy. The class action suit was filed by Canada in the year 2000. alleging the company was operating an illegal gambling business. Outside of Canada the company was also struck with a huge fines over FIFA the Ultimate Team mode in Holland which the government claimed that the company was breaking the gambling laws of the country. The recent information leak is just spark for the fire of regulation.

EA issued a statement in response to the CBC article , saying its customers that the company was "disappointed" with the findings and also that it does not provide important information in the documents. EA also reiterated its position that loot boxes aren't gambling. It's possible that they will be unable to convince gamers of as of right now 74% of players believe they are playing with their loot containers.

It's fair to say the gaming genre that focuses on sports isn't at its best at the moment. The most popular franchises such as FIFA, NBA 2K, and Madden have been dissatisfied by the games released each year. Some feel that very little improvement are being made every year, and players are being forced to switch to models such as Ultimate Team, which reward players who buy microtransactions.
