Once "Water Troubles" is finished, head to the Raider Den and speak to Celeste. She will warn you about suspicious activity in the Dam Battlegrounds' water supply and unlock "Source of the Contamination" as a follow-up quest. You can mark it as your active quest to receive minimap guidance, which is crucial for navigating the busy Dam Battlegrounds.

Loadout Recommendations: Keep It Simple and Safe

Unlike high-stakes extraction quests, "Source of the Contamination" does not require you to extract loot or bring specialized items. For this reason, using a free loadout is highly recommended. This minimizes risk-if you die, you won't lose valuable gear, and you can restart the quest immediately.

If you prefer to be prepared, equip a basic mid-range rifle for self-defense against patrols and Arc drones. A single(first aid kit) is also useful, but not essential. Avoid heavy, expensive gear; the quest's focus is on exploration, not combat.

Step 1: Locate the Water Treatment Building

The quest begins in the Dam Battlegrounds, and your first objective is to reach the Water Treatment Building. This landmark is positioned slightly left of the map's center, near the swamp region and close to common raider routes.

Depending on your spawn point, you may need to navigate through patrolled areas. To avoid unnecessary fights, stick to the edges of the map and use foliage or concrete walls for cover. The Water Treatment Building is marked with a yellow icon on your minimap, making it easy to spot once you're in the general area.

Note that the Dam Battlegrounds is a popular spot for other players, so stay alert for PvP encounters. If you encounter other raiders, prioritize evasion over combat-your goal is to reach the building, not win fights.

Step 2: Find the Flood Spill Intake Near the Swamp

One of the most common mistakes raiders make is searching inside the Water Treatment Building. The Flood Spill Intake-your next target-is actually on the building's northern exterior, facing the swamp.

Circle around the back (northern side) of the Water Treatment Building. You'll spot a small, stagnant pool of discolored, polluted water bordered by concrete walls-this is the Flood Spill Intake. The murky water is a clear visual cue that you're in the right place.

As you approach, be mindful of Arc drones patrolling the area. These drones have a 15-meter detection range, but they move slowly. If one spots you, use cover (like nearby pipes) to hide, or quickly dispatch it with your rifle if needed.

Step 3: Investigate the Suspicious Object (The Contamination Source)

Once you reach the Flood Spill Intake, look for a rusted yellow barrel submerged in the polluted water. This barrel is leaking iridescent fluids and is the source of the buy ARC Raiders Materials contamination. It's hard to miss, but take a moment to scan the area for other players or enemies before interacting with it.

Interacting with the barrel is simple-just approach it and press the interact button. Unlike some quests, there's no timer or mini-game here; the objective updates immediately once you investigate the barrel.
