Steven Davis produced a man of the match performance in a pretty flat Rangers performance despite winning 3-0 at home to Falkirk. In freezing conditions, Rangers were simple but effective as Falkirk posed a number of problems to the Rangers defence at times with the pace and power of former Leeds striker Enoch Showunmi and the width of Jack Compton and Ryan Flynn. Walter Smith only made the one change today from the midweek Corey Ballentine Jersey win with St Mirren, Miller out and Fleck in.Davis on excellent form for RangersThe opening goal came after 18 minutes when Steven Davis produced a moment of brilliance from a free-kick about 25 yards out and he just clipped the ball over the wall into the top corner, a goal that oozed technique from the Northern Irish midfielder who has been absolutely superb this season. Apart from that, it was a pretty poor first-half in terms of action although credit to Falkirk who I thought looked pretty decent and in particular Jack Compton and Ryan Flynn who showed some neat touches that caused Papac and Whittaker a few problems.Rangers again seemed to struggle in the second half to create much and Steven Davis was at the heart of the second goal when he broke clear down the right-hand side before sliding the ball acro s the face of goal for John Fleck to slide in and make it 2-0. Fleck had a pretty decent game in the second-half and showed exactly some of the things Rangers fans want to see from him. Upfront, Kyle Lafferty again huffed and puffed this afternoon and put in a good shift but the end product was sadly not there again.Steven Whittaker got the third goal for Rangers when he collected a pa s outside the box and with a swift touch with his right foot, he spun away one-on-one with Olejnik and there was no doubt as he fired the ball low and hard into the net. It was a sign of the positive side of Whittaker after what was a pretty torrid afternoon for the former Hibs man up against Jack Compton.A flat performance from Rangers in the end, but most importantly, still 10 points clear with some big games approaching.
