Lightning Paladin has become one of those builds people love to dunk on, mostly because the early ride feels rough. I won't pretend it's smooth. It isn't. Small investments still matter

Charged Bolt is useful, but it doesn't need to eat your whole build. A few points, usually three to five, are enough for the attack speed value you actually want. After that, move on. Holy Shield is the one players skip and then complain about being deleted by stray hits. Don't do that. Season 9 punishes lazy defence harder than older setups did. A couple of points can keep you alive long enough for Lightning Fury to do its job, and that's the difference between farming and constantly running back.

Shift your stats when the game changes

The biggest trap is keeping the same stat plan forever. During the middle levels, attack speed and crit chance feel like oxygen. You need them to keep momentum and stay ahead of incoming damage. Later, once gear is covering the basics, the priorities should move. Lightning Damage becomes a bigger deal, and Cooldown Reduction starts to feel less like a bonus and more like fuel. If you never make that switch, the build stalls. It's not a skill issue at that point. It's just bad timing on your gearing.
