How to Complete Battening Down in ARC Raiders BluePrints
With the arrival of the "Riven Tides" update in Arc Raiders, a host of new quests have been added to enrich the gameplay experience. Among these, "Battening Down" stands out as a accessible yet engaging quest that takes players on a coastal exploration across the Riven Tides map. Tasked by Apollo, this quest requires you to complete three key objectives-photographing seawall cracks, sampling the hotel beach shoreline, and repairing a leaking oil pipe. While the quest is straightforward, navigating the map and locating exact interaction points can be tricky for new and even experienced players. This guide breaks down every step in ARC Raiders BluePrints detail, ensuring you complete "Battening Down" efficiently and claim your rewards without unnecessary backtracking.
Before You Start: Preparation and Quest Overview
First, it's important to understand the basics of the "Battening Down" quest. Unlike high-intensity raids, this quest focuses on exploration and simple interactions rather than heavy combat. However, that doesn't mean you can skip preparation.
The entire quest takes place on the northern outer portion of the Riven Tides map, which is relatively less active but still home to occasional enemy patrols. To stay safe, pack essential supplies: adrenaline shots for stamina, shield rechargers, and bandages to handle unexpected skirmishes. You don't need to extract with any collected items, so using a free kit is a smart choice to avoid risking valuable gear.
A key advantage of "Battening Down" is that its three objectives can be completed in any order. Your starting position on the map can help you plan the most efficient route: if you spawn on the west side, begin with the hotel beach shoreline sample; if you spawn on the east, head first to the seawall cracks or leaking oil pipe, as they will be closer.
Step 1: Photograph the Cracks Forming in the Seawall
The first objective asks you to document the damage to the coastal seawall by taking a photo of its cracks. This task is tied to the Wavebreaker point of interest (POI) on the Riven Tides map, so start by locating this landmark on your in-game map.
Once you reach the Wavebreaker POI, look to the left of the landmark's text on your map-this is where the damaged seawall section is located. Head to the northern end of the seawall, and you'll spot a sunken container half-buried in the sand, positioned next to a network of concrete cracks.
Stand close enough to the cracks for the interaction prompt to appear, then press the designated button (usually "E" on PC) to take the photo. You'll receive confirmation that the objective is complete once the photo is captured. There are multiple crack locations you can use, but the one near the sunken container is the easiest to find.
Step 2: Sample the Shoreline Near the Hotel Beach
Next, you'll need to collect a shoreline sample from near the hotel beach. This objective takes you to the northwest corner of the Riven Tides map, specifically to Azzurro Beach.
From the seawall, head west toward the hotel complex. The exact sampling point is north of the hotel, near the beach's edge-but don't be surprised if the area seems dry; this quirk is part of the map's design. Look for a patch of seaweed washed up on the sand; this is the sample you need to collect.
Approach the seaweed, and an interaction prompt will appear. Tap the prompt to scan or collect the sample, and the second objective will be marked as complete. The seaweed is easy to spot, but keep an eye out for enemy patrols in the hotel area, as they can interrupt your progress if you're not careful.
Step 3: Fix the Leaking Oil Pipe in the Northeast
The final objective is to repair a leaking oil pipe located in the northeast portion of the map, near the seawall you photographed earlier. This is the closest objective to the seawall, making it a convenient follow-up if you completed that step first.
From the sunken container at the seawall, head east along the beach toward the map's northeast quadrant. You'll soon see two large pipes extending from the sea, partially exposed in the sand. The leaking pipe is at the southern end of these pipes, near where they almost touch the seawall.
Look for the classic colorful oil slick in the water nearby-this is a clear indicator of the leak. Stand next to the pipe, wait for the repair prompt to buy ARC Raiders Armors appear, and interact with it to fix the leak. The repair is a simple interaction, not a mini-game, so it will only take a few seconds to complete.
