The New York Riveters are a founding member of the National Women's Hockey League. . The team is named for Rosie the Riveter, the cultural icon used as a symbol of feminism and female empowerment in the working world. Rosie the Riveter entered the national lexicon during World War II, when women joined the workforce while the men were away fighting the war. Brown helped the Tigers win a Division III national championship in 2012 with three points in the final period to win, 4-1. She played for the Tigers during their transition to Division I and played in the NCAA tournament last winter. Brooke Ammerman is No. 4 on the University of Wisconsin's all-time scorer list and won championships in 2009 and 2011.
