Why Does RO System Operating Pressure Increase and How to Address It?
Increased operating pressure in RO systems usually stems from membrane pore blockage, concentrated water discharge issues, or excessive feed water flow. Blockages—from scale, colloids, or microbial slime—create resistance, forcing pressure to rise. Clogged concentrated water pipes or malfunctioning valves trap saltwater, further increasing pressure. Monitoring the feed-permeate pressure difference is key: an abnormal spike (over 0.1MPa) indicates blockage.
To fix it, first inspect concentrated water pipelines and valves—clear clogs or replace faulty valves.
